PHILIP PULLMAN’S GRIMM TALES | February 2023

The Brothers Grimm’s original tales, paired with the immersive backdrop of the Bauer Theatre itself, will make February’s “Grimm Tales” a show not to miss. From well-known fables like “Hansel & Gretel” to the lesser known “Donkey Cabbage”, these dark takes on the original Grimm Fairy Tales will mesmerize and entrance our audiences. Five uniquely different stories will take place all around the Bauer Theatre in a promenade-style show similar to the outdoor theatre experience of Festival Antigonish’s productions at Keppoch Mountain. Each story is approximately 15-minutes long and audiences will be divided into groups of 10 to be led from one story to the next.

DICKENS’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL | December 2022

Join us as we retell the classic holiday tale about Scrooge, a cold-hearted woman who transforms her miserly ways after ghostly visits on Christmas Eve. The story is presented live on stage in the nostalgic style of old-fashioned radio plays. Complete with holiday music and live sound effects, this show is perfect for the whole family and features a large talented cast and music ensemble from the Antigonish and StFX community. Bah humbug!

THE OUTSIDE INN | Fall 2022

Lily is an eccentric, outspoken woman who thought she had it all – a loving husband, a beautiful child and a healthy body, until everything she knew about her perfect life falls apart. Patrick always knew things were a little off, never feeling right in their “perfect” family or their “perfect” body. A day full of surprises sets this mother and child on a transformative journey that will either bring them closer or blast them apart. A funny, messy tale about two souls struggling to understand each other… while stuck in a vintage camper in the middle of nowhere. Inspired by the playwrights’ lived experiences, The Outside Inn is a dark comedy about parenthood, gender, identity, and embracing radical change.

THE HOBBIT | Summer 2022

A furry-footed wee Hobbit named Bilbo Baggins goes on an adventure, and despite constant cravings for the comforts of the beloved hobbit hole, discovers courage, strength, and keen burglaring skills. Bilbo battles trolls, spiders and a giant dragon, in this extraordinary tale of how a small, seemingly insignificant Hobbit can change the world.
